In November 1999 RiverWatch applied for
a $8,000 grant from the County of San Diego to produce a 30 minute
video to be entitled "Exploring the San Luis Rey River, Part
One - A Unique Community Resource."
Member, Julie Schneider Ljubenkov, MFA, will script, direct and shoot the video. The grant request was made in direct partnership with the Pala/Pauma Sponsor Group as the grant requires a county department/agency involvement.
This video will focus on the upper half of the San Luis Rey River from its headwaters near Palomar Mountain to I-15. The significance of the geology, ecology, botany, anthropology, archeology, history, and agriculture of this section of the river will be presented to educate all residents of San Diego County as to unique biological and ethnic diversity of this section of the San Luis Rey River.
Announcement to the grant recipients is expected in February 2000.
Update: Unfortunately our application was not selected for the year 2000 grant program. We have already started plans for the necessary modifications, with the expectation of receiving grant approval in 2001.
